The Iida Train Line

The Iida Line is a railway which connects the major city of Toyohashi in Aichi prefecture with southern Nagano. It is very popular with “Tecchan,” or rail aficionados, because of the beautiful scenery the line winds its way through, but also for the “Hikyo Eki” on the route. Hikyo Eki are “empty stations,” originally serving villages which have either decreased in size or disappeared completely.

Of course, the line also serves regular villages and communities, so you can enjoy local cuisine and culture as well.
